Ms. Jamila McKinnis the 2008 Salutatorian of Mattie T. Blount High School (BHS) and 2012 graduate and Summa Cum Laude honors' recipient of Stillman University in Tuscaloosa Alabama participated in the White Coat ceremony at Meharry Schools of Medicine, Dentistry and Graduate Studies and Research in Nashville Tennessee. This prestigious ceremony, a New Beginning, recognize students entering his or her first year of dental school. In her address to Meharry’s dental students, Stephanie C. McClure, MD, FACP said, “You are the elite, the brightest of the bright and the most well-rounded students in the nation to have reached this milestone.”
While at BHS, Jamila was a student in the HCAP program. She was also a star player on Blount’s Volleyball squad. Jamila continued and excelled as a skilled athlete in Volleyball and Basketball at the collegiate level.
Jamila is the daughter of James & Keturah McKinnis who are both employees of MCPSS. Congratulations to Jamila McKinnis another BHS Best and Brightest.
